For every entry you can define fileds (Label and Value) and fill with informations. All this data are stored encrypted. For encryption AES-256 in conjunction with agon2 is used. The encryption is done with an random masterkey which is stored encrypted in the database. For opening the masterkey a user password is used. You can have multiple categories to store entries in it. The database can be exported and imported.

Conway’s Game of Life is sometimes described as a zero player game. You set up a collection of living cells on an effectively infinite grid, and then they evolve based on a couple of simple rules. A cell that is currently alive will survive if it has 2 or 3 living neighbors (less it dies of loneliness, more it dies of overcrowding), and a dead cell that has exactly 3 living neighbors is “born”. This yields surprisingly complex behaviors, and even be used to comstruct a simple computer (though not a very fast one.)

EcNotes starts as a hobby project to get away some ‘rust’ from my golang programming while developing something useful. Through the years I’ve always been struggling to find a simple tool to store my passwords and other sensitive information that meets the following requirements:

must be multiplatform: run on desktop and mobile as well
must be locally installed as a standalone GUI application: I don’t want to rely on some third party-internet software or browser extension
must be able to sync encrypted data to some cloud storage/db services as an optional feature: this is required if I want to use the app on different systems/devices and retain all my data
must give me the ownership of my data: I want to be able to generate my own encryption key/s locally, save them where I want and storing or syncing with cloud services only encrypted content. meaning, the only time where my data are in clear text is inside the application and only for the piece of data I am actually accessing (single note)

UI Configuration
#

By default the UI will load its configuration from ~/.opensnitch/ui-config.json (customizable with the --config argument), the default contents of this file are:

The default_timeout is the number of seconds after which the UI will take its default action, the default_action can be allow or deny and the default_duration, which indicates for how long the default action should be taken, can be once, until restart or always to persist the action as a new rule on disk. default_operand indicates the operand type to use for the rule, can be process.path (the path of the executable), user.id, dest.ip, dest.host or dest.port.
